Interpex IX1D V3.50: A Powerful Software for 1D Sounding Inversion
Interpex is a software company that specializes in producing high quality software for the processing, interpretation and display of geophysical data. One of their products is IX1D V3.50, a 1-D Direct Current (DC) resistivity, Induced Polarization (IP), Magnetotelluric (MT) and electromagnetic sounding inversion program.
Interpex IX1D V3.50
IX1D V3.50 supports most DC resistivity arrays, including Wenner, Schlumberger, Dipole-dipole, Pole-dipole and Pole-pole arrays. It also supports resistivity with IP measurements in terms of PFE, Chargeability in msec or Phase in mrad. Moreover, it supports MT sounding inversion with Apparent Resistivity and Impedance Phase, as well as Frequency-Domain Electromagnetic in-phase and quadrature measurements made versus frequency, coil spacing or instrument height. Additionally, it supports EM Conductivity measurements in terms of apparent conductivity in milliSiemens/m and TEM measurements taken with central loop, fixed loop or coincident loop configurations.
IX1D V3.50 allows the user to create data by spreadsheet entry or copy/paste from another spreadsheet, import data or models from flat ASCII files, enter models from the keyboard or copy/paste from a spreadsheet as either Depth models or Layer Thickness, fix parameters for the inversion calculations, invert data using smooth or blocky models with Marquardt-Levenberg or Occam's methods, display data and model curves on log-log or linear scales with error bars and fit statistics, display model parameters in a table with layer boundary elevations relative to surface elevations, display model resistivity as a function of depth or elevation with color fill option, display multiple soundings along a profile line with color fill option for apparent resistivity or elevation section, export data or models to flat ASCII files or clipboard for use in other programs, print data and model graphs or tables to any Windows printer or plotter.
IX1D V3.50 also has some advanced features such as reading a resistivity well log from a flat ASCII file and reducing it to several discreet layers by fitting straight line segments to the cumulative conductance in the log, performing forward modeling of TEM data using either a ramp-on/ramp-off waveform or an arbitrary waveform defined by the user, performing forward modeling of MT data using either a plane wave source or a segmented wire source defined by the user, performing forward modeling of EM Conductivity data using either a horizontal coplanar coil configuration or a vertical coaxial coil configuration defined by the user.
IX1D V3.50 is compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 and requires a USB key for copy protection. It can be downloaded from http://www.interpex.com/ftp/ix1d/ix1dv3setup.exe and updated from http://www.interpex.com/ftp/ix1d/ix1dv3update.zip. The current version is 3.60 which was released on 24 March 2019 and added soft parameter limits.
